Terms of Service

Last updated: 31 October 2026

These terms govern your use of the PubMind app for iOS and Android, the pubmind.app website and related services. Please read them carefully, especially the medical disclaimer in section 2 and the limits on our liability in section 14.

1.About these terms

PubMind is provided by AA1 Labs ("PubMind", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using PubMind, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use PubMind.

If you use PubMind on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these terms for it.

2.Not medical advice

PubMind is a tool for reading and organising published research, for research and educational purposes only. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and it is not a medical device.

  • AI summaries, one-line previews, Ask AI answers, scores, reports and feed rankings are generated automatically and can be incomplete, out of date or wrong, including in ways that look convincing.
  • Always check important points against the full text of the source article and apply your own professional and clinical judgement. Do not rely on PubMind as the sole basis for any decision about a patient's care or your own health.
  • Published research itself can be preliminary, retracted, superseded or disputed. PubMind does not verify the accuracy of articles.
  • If you have a medical emergency, contact your local emergency services. For personal health questions, consult a qualified healthcare professional.

3.The service

PubMind lets you search and read the PubMed literature and use AI features on articles, including summaries, one-line previews, Ask AI chat about articles, PDFs and search results, scoring questions, reports and a personalised For You feed. It can sync your library across your devices, help you find full text and PDFs from open-access sources and publishers, save web pages from the in-app browser to an article, and notify you about new articles.

Features differ between plans and may change over time (see section 11).

4.Eligibility and your account

  • You must be at least 16 years old to use PubMind.
  • Give us accurate information and keep your email address up to date so you can receive security and account messages.
  • Keep your password confidential. You are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us promptly at info@pubmind.app if you think your account has been compromised.
  • Accounts are personal and may not be shared, sold or transferred.
  • You can delete your account at any time in the app from Settings, then Delete account. The Privacy Policy explains what is erased.

5.Plans, subscriptions and billing

Plans

  • Free: core reading and search with limited AI features.
  • Plus: US$5 per month or US$50 per year.
  • Pro: US$10 per month or US$100 per year.

Prices are shown in US dollars. The App Store or Google Play shows the price in your local currency, which may differ and may include taxes. The features and limits of each plan are described in the app at the time of purchase.

Billing and renewal

Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple or Google. Payment is charged to your App Store or Google Play account when you confirm the purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. Deleting your PubMind account does not cancel a subscription.

Refunds

Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. Nothing in these terms affects any statutory rights you have as a consumer.

Limits and fair use

AI features have real costs, so each plan includes limits, such as a number of AI chat questions per day, scoring limits per search and a fair-use AI allowance. If you reach a limit, some AI features pause until the limit resets or you upgrade. We may apply reasonable limits to protect the service from excessive or automated use, and we may change limits or prices for future billing periods. We will give you notice of price increases as required by the app stores and by law.

6.AI features

  • To answer your request, PubMind sends the relevant article text, PDF text, search results and your questions to third-party AI providers, as described in the Privacy Policy.
  • Do not enter information that identifies a patient or any other person into AI features, and do not upload material you do not have the right to use.
  • AI outputs are provided for your convenience. Treat them as a starting point, not as a source to cite. Cite the original article.
  • Outputs that depend only on an article may be cached and shown to other users. They do not contain your personal data.

7.Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • scrape, crawl, bulk download or systematically extract content, AI outputs or data from PubMind, or use automated means to access it except through the app as intended;
  • reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract the source code of the service or its server APIs, except where the law allows it;
  • access or use our servers or APIs other than through the PubMind app, or try to get around plan limits, rate limits, paywalls or security measures;
  • use PubMind to infringe copyright or breach the terms of publishers, libraries or other content providers, including licence terms of your institution;
  • resell, sublicense or provide PubMind or its outputs as a service to others;
  • upload malware, overload or disrupt the service, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to any account or system;
  • use PubMind for anything unlawful, harmful, harassing or deceptive, or to build a competing product.

8.Third-party content and services

Articles, abstracts, PDFs, figures and other research content shown in PubMind belong to their authors and publishers, and are provided by sources such as NCBI PubMed, PubMed Central, Europe PMC, OpenAlex, Semantic Scholar, Unpaywall, CORE, Crossref and publishers. PubMind does not own this content and does not guarantee its accuracy, availability or licence.

Your use of that content is subject to copyright law and to the terms and licences of its owners, for example Creative Commons licences for open-access articles or your institution's subscription terms. You are responsible for complying with them, including when you download, save, share or export content.

Links and the in-app browser may take you to third-party websites. We are not responsible for their content or practices.

9.Your content

"Your content" means what you add to PubMind: saved items, collections, tags, questions, chat messages, uploaded PDFs, saved web pages and profile information. You keep any rights you have in it. You give us a limited licence to store, copy, process and transmit your content only as needed to provide and secure PubMind for you, including sending it to the providers described in the Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for the content you save, upload or share, and you confirm that you have the rights needed to use it in PubMind.

10.Our intellectual property

PubMind, including the app, its design, software, logo and name, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for your own research and education in line with these terms. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without obligation to you.

11.Changes and availability

We work to keep PubMind available and useful, but we may add, change or remove features, change AI providers or models, or suspend the service for maintenance. Third-party sources may change or stop providing content at any time. Where a change materially reduces a paid feature you have already paid for, we will tell you and you may cancel.

12.Suspension and termination

You can stop using PubMind and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close your account, or restrict features, if you materially breach these terms, misuse the service, create risk or legal exposure for us or others, or if we are required to by law. Where reasonable, we will give you notice and a chance to fix the problem first. If we close your account without cause, we will tell you in advance where we can.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including sections 2, 8, 13, 14 and 17, continue to apply.

13.No warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, PubMind is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement and uninterrupted or error-free operation. We do not warrant that AI outputs or third-party content are correct, current or suitable for any clinical or other purpose.

14.Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or opportunity, or for any decision made or action taken in reliance on PubMind, its AI outputs or third-party content.

Our total liability for all claims relating to PubMind is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for PubMind in the 12 months before the claim arose and US$50.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

15.Apple and Google

These terms are between you and us, not Apple or Google. Apple and Google are not responsible for PubMind, its content, maintenance, support or any claims relating to it. If the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple or Google for a refund of the purchase price where their policies allow; otherwise they have no warranty obligation. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. You must also comply with the App Store or Google Play terms that apply to you.

16.Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will change the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. If you keep using PubMind after the changes take effect, you accept the updated terms. If you do not agree, stop using PubMind and delete your account.

17.Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over disputes. If you are a consumer, you also benefit from the mandatory protections of the law of the country where you live and may bring proceedings there.

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. If we do not enforce a right, we do not waive it.
